The Magic Garden is run by parents, teachers and students. It is a space for learning about where food comes from and how to share that knowledge with others.

About the Magic Garden

Dream it.

The Magic Garden was built by a group of parents in the late 90s who wanted to provide Roscoe Wilson with an outdoor space for students to learn about the earth and where our food comes from. They built it from the ground up with the help of generous donations from Home Depot, Watermasters, Lowe’s, Flat City Farms and countless other volunteers. We simply wouldn’t exist without people who care about our children’s future.

Build it.

We try to build something new every year that enables the garden to thrive. This year, we have built an outdoor kitchen, complete with sink, a bucket to catch our gray water, and a vegetable washing station. We also installed a rain barrel to water our butterfly garden!

Grow it.

The Magic Garden is always changing, always growing and sometimes we take a rest in the winter to let everything regenerate. Things succeed, things fail, and we learn a lot about how to do better next time. Our goal is to get every kid in the garden during the school year.
